Baked apples are a simple classy dessert. Serve it as it is, drenched with the spiced syrup they are baked in, or accompanied by English custard, cream or gelato.

Ingredients
6apples, Fuji or Gala
350ml(1 1/2cups)water
2cinnamon sticks
3star anise berries
2tablespoonscane sugar
2tablespoonsapricot jam
2tablespoonsraisins
Instructions
Preheat oven to 165°C (325 degrees F).
Rinse the apples and remove the core with a sharp knife or apple corer.
Arrange the apples in a baking tray where they can sit comfortably.
Mix the apricot jam with the raisins, and fill the apples with it.
Add the cinnamon sticks and star anise berries into the tray, then sprinkle the apples with cane sugar. Pour the water into the pan.
Bake the apples for an hour and a half, then turn off the oven and leave them inside.
You can serve them immediately, or keep them in the refrigerator for a few days.
