Choose this experience if you are curious to learn why Florentine people are also known as mangiafagioli, bean eater. The traditional Tuscan country cooking has many vegetarian dishes, such as ribollita, a bean and cavolo nero soup, panzanella, a tomato and cucumber bread salad, and pappa al pomodoro, a thick tomato bread soup, my comfort food. Together we will prepare a generous feast based on fresh and seasonal products, cooked with the creativity of peasant cooking to make every bit flavourful and tasty. Gluten free and vegan options are always available on request.

Our most popular menu
Antipasti: Cheese platter with onion jam, warm focaccia, chickpea cake, seasonal bruschetta, panzanella, fried zucchini flowers or fried sage leaves, grilled seasonal vegetables.
First Course: Fresh hand-made pasta like tagliatelle, tortelli, ravioli, malfatti or pici, pillowy potato gnocchi, dressed with a seasonal sauce, risotto or a seasonal soup.
Main Course: Eggplant parmigiana, eggs in tomato sauce, stewed beans.
Side dish: Roasted seasonal vegetables, vegetable stews, fresh salads and rich flans.
Dessert: Almond biscotti, olive oil and vinsanto cake, olive oil chocolate cake, zuppa inglese, jam crostata, fresh fruit cake, tiramisu, chestnut cake or ricotta with honey.

Why a cooking class with me?
You have the opportunity to learn from a born and bred Tuscan and visit my family home in the rolling Sienese countryside. I’ve been writing professionally about Tuscany for 8 years, teaching classes for more than 5 years and cooking for all my life, standing on a stool in the kitchen next to my grandma and mum. My partner and better half Tommaso has also joined Jul’s Kitchen so you can be sure the technical side of the business is taken care of.
We like to offer you authentic edible experiences in Tuscany. Choosing a class with us means to escape for a day in the countryside, far from the charming buzz of Florence and Siena. Slow down and be ready to live a day as a local: hearty homemade food is included!
We will shop at the local market and at my artisan butcher who knows me by name, we will talk with producers, we will plan the menu together according to the season. Our cooking classes are hands-on, as I believe that we learn by doing – and after all it is fun to knead your pasta dough, isn’t it?
We strongly believe in a creative network of producers and friends: during our classes you’ll have the chance to discover and taste local products such as Tuscan pecorino cheese, extra virgin olive oil, wine, cinta senese pork charcuterie, chianina cow meat and much more, according to the season.
Every meal will be an excuse to travel through Tuscany thanks to local recipes, memories and stories.
How does it work?
The cooking classes are held in our Studio, located in a traditional country house in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, between Siena and Florence.
You’ll meet my family, my dog Noa and my cat Wolfi, and if the weather is good you’ll get the chance to eat outside in our garden underneath the olive trees.
A private driver can be arranged on request for pick-up and drop-off (price not included). A photographer can be hired to take photos of your class, giving you precious memories of the experience. (please ask for a quote if you are interested in any of the options)
Vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan options are always available on request.

Juls’ Kitchen is located in the countryside near Colle Val d’Elsa, one hour from Florence and 30 minutes from Siena. Near many of the nicest location in Tuscany, such as San Gimignano and Montalcino, Volterra, Pienza, Lucca, Montepulciano, Greve in Chianti.
